marketing anyone?

It was Déjà vu. Not again , i thought. The guy had followed me from the seven-two-four to the four-two-five. So i braced myself for the same rote discourse of his. I'd seen him earlier, but this time was a bit different. Apart from the Delhi Information booklet, he now carried a quiz book, a book containing alphabets for children, gell pen sets, pencil sets(with free erasers) ; all for 10 per item. After his melancholy and monotonic speech, he scanned the bus for any buyers waving the booklets at them. Unlike previous instances , the 10 rupee notes did not come out, and he had to disembark without any fresh notes in his pocket. I couldn't help but smile. The entire stretch was jammed, and buses were lined one after another. "So many customers", thought I. I could have definitely done better than him. He did not strike a correct chord with the consumer even though he had products which were easily sell-able. The key was marketing, and he was a non-thinker.

Looking at a much bigger medium, Tata Docomo was the first network to offer 1p/sec calls and they had literally spammed the whole cricket match with their silly docomo-docomo-o-re-aaaaa-oooo  (someone throw out the TV please!) ads. What a waste of money. What's worse is their recent futile attempt to imitate the carefully thought out ZooZoos with silly cartoons and text on the screen which disappears faster than I can say 'I love you'.  A much better thought out advertising and marketing campaign would have helped Tata use the advantage they had.

I'm reminded of the train journey that i took with my dad to Chandigarh. Chaiwallahs shouting "chai-chai" crisscrossed the train's compartments at the rate of 1 compartment/minute. My dad had tea at the rate of 1 tea/7 chaiwallahs (ok .... maybe 9), but I didn't. Then came one who shouted "Punjab di tarka maar ke chai, pee ke aadmi gungunaye" (lolz...) . I had a cup.

Morning Blues .. The Idiot Way !

I woke up roughly around 10 am, after usual morning ablutions almost crawled to the dining room and got hold of today's newspaper. It was full of usual mumbai marathi RSS ShivSena IPL potpourri, nothing much interesting, see TOI usually dont have any great editorials at all, its supplements DC and Edu Times today were too awful, but i got hold of something - There was a mention of MAIT or Maharaja Institute of Technology in Edu Times, some student of their have written an article about problems of Indian Education system and bla bla bla, all he was saying was that we should learn from 3 Idiots....zzzz.

Indeed these days on many blogs and forums there are discussions about 3 idiots, how it must have ended, what a gr8 film it was, what it didn't show, How close it was to 5 Pt Sm1 and much more .... Suddenly just 15 minutes ago my mind had an Idea about idiots alternative story line, yep pals now m gonna publish it in this post :)

3 Idiots Alternative story line : Rancho the Entrepreneur !

Scene 1 : Kareena is in the plane and going somewhere when Chatur calls her up to meet Rancho, She hurries herself to the university campus and after the same dialogues they plan a trip to some poor African and middle east nation ! (well we can obviously add some closet scenes between the two..aaah..forget it...lets continue )

Scene 2: Chatur recalls the story, we see it on screen when Rancho enters the college, ragging Scene, Virus scene and all, .... and we also see some new scenes too primarily Rancho fails and Tops alternatively, he becomes the leader of the college gang, Students revere him, he talks about changes in the system - some teachers favour him, some not , so there are many college internal politics scenes all in all....

Scene 3 : In this one love Blooms between Kareena and Rancho, so Rancho leaves his 1st girlfriend and becomes engaged with Kareena ... some heart breaks some love scenes, Kareena also makes her father revert back many expulsion letters in the name of Rancho and his friends :)

Scene 4 : This is Happy scene with sad ending, In this Rancho sends Madhavan to Hungary by getting his photographic blog on animals a hit on internet !, Raju gets placed in 3rd year coz Rancho gets his marks altered in Student's placement cell, Virus hurries off to Shimla to meet Rancho's father so that he can talk some marriage business there ..hee hee. In his behind Rancho successfully leads an Entrepreneurship movement in the college, forms college club, wins some prestigious B plan competition , some cultural fest, daru party, fighting scene with cynics and all !

Chatur challenges him over his methods and they both fix a date - 5 Sep.

Meanwhile, Virus comes to know the real identity of Rancho in Shimla, he hurries back to college and rusticates Rancho, Virus tells some half Truth half false story to kareena so that she call it a break up ... some where between we can add the delivery scene of Mona singh, It was awesome !

Scene 5 : Kareena and Chatur in present time go to some middle east nation and to Chatur's dismay finds that Rancho is some big businessman there,.... 5 years ago he came here, did some export import business (Here he becomes a GuruKant Desai of Guru).... he banked upon some good idea in the market ! .. publicized it on Madhavan's blog, got funding started his enterprise here ..... Moral of the story... Keep on walking :) .... At last comes the most missing scene of 3 Idiots, You see Rancho tells Kareena that he daily visualizes her coming in Dulhan's Dress close to him, they kiss and make love .... So Kareena goes to him in last, slaps him hard...and the kiss and make Love in Chatur's car !

Dictionary doesn't teach meaning of Phoenix !!

I had just finished watching the movie "Its a wonderful Life", when Avi called up !

Saurabh 2nd year, CS department had ringed him up and asked him to continue with the club meetings, We had our excuses to suspend the club by not taking initiative this sem, both me n Avi were unplaced, busy with companies coming and going, a lot of disappointments this Jan ! ...

We even don't have Corprova - our Fest, this year ! and both me and Avi have our share of guilt for it ! .. everything was delayed, our MBA exams just finished, Placements were delayed, so were failures and personal successes, I regret it and is responsible for being not able to host Corprova again ! , This college deserves d enigma Gulati brought last year!

2008-2009 was a Miracle for Bvp Inc, Originally credit goes to Vaibhav and Aayush who took things into their hand to start the meetings of club after a gap of a year since Umang Left the college and club went into some kind of politics and ultimate shut down, i really dunno what was in Vaibhav's mind when he took the initiative to restart the club in 5th sem, the meetings were conducted usually in B101, Avi was a regular, Aayush n Ankit Jain were supportive, Yash , Karan , Niharika and shweta were some new faces !, and I was just an accidental entry then !

I was in some kind of emotional breakdown then ! , All i needed was some place to wander on ... Had some stock market skills , possessed some good presentations tactics and as was out of Club Robotica, so found a comfortable cushion here !

Vaibhav got the club in motion, he was in 3rd year, so he made Puneet Gulati, 4th year the Chairman, but he was some kind of absent chair during the early period, It was all Vaibhav, Avi and ya in some demand and supply from my side.

We used to have excellent GDs, the attendance in club was an Issue - only 6 to 7 sometimes but ya the club was going strong !

when Kittu , our Alumni attached with d club visited one day, he sat silently in the meeting like a student , I was presenting stock Market topics for the 1st time ! ....and was relatively new to club..we all were.... so wasn't aware who the fat looking student was !

I vividly remember how that day turned out, I almost got into an Altercation with him and Gulati over stocks .. ha ha ... I Was a big ediot, typical 3rd year arrogant ediot i was ! ... Thank god that arrogancy, it Introduced me to Kittu and the real BvpInc feeling for the first time!

He was magic, so was Gulati later during 6th sem, but that day I learned a thing - NEVER LET YOUR EGO COME IN WAY OF YOUR LEARNING !

Rest is History of what happened in 6th sem, how the club got its wings, how Corprova was resurrected !and how we made the club fly last sem ... I can go on and On about it...But for that golden period , may be, I am not the right person to pen it Down !

This club belongs to Rebels, Ediots , Dreamers, Bakchods and 'Yes we can change the world types', - after all we are still ALIVE and Saurabh thanks to you - We will be having our first meeting tomorrow !
